As the city of joy breathes a sigh of relief with the rains lashing through the city and outskirts, the Chandannagore home of Sanjib and Aparna Ghosh held on to their nerves as the results of West Bengal Higher Secondary Examination were declared on Wednesday afternoon. Finally, as the merit list was announced the entire house erupted in waves of joy as both their 18-year-old twin daughters Sneha and Soha featured in the merit list of Higher Secondary examination.

Sneha, who has topped the state among the girls jointly with Pratichi Roy Talukdar, has been placed fourth on the merit list. Soha, on the other hand, has secured the 10th position.

"It is really a proud moment for all of us. At first, when my sister Sneha's name was announced, we all were excited as she has topped the state among girls. We then waited eagerly for the entire list to be announced. Finally joy knew no bounds when my name was also announced," said Soha, speaking to The Telegraph Online Edugraph.

"Be it studying or playing games, we did everything together since childhood and followed a strict routine. We used to get up together in the morning and used to have fixed targets everyday. We studied and solved questions together and helped one another in clearing our doubts," said Sneha.

Students of Krishna Bhabini Nari Siksha Mandir, both the sisters have credited their teachers and parents for their success. They had taken up the same subject combination after their Madhyamik exam and wish to pursue higher studies in Economics.

"Both of us have similar interests. We love Economics and wish to take up the subject at our graduation and post graduation levels," said Sneha.

Sneha and Soha's father Sanjib Kr Ghosh is an employee at a private firm while their mother is a house-wife.

"Both of them were brilliant students since their childhood days. We only suported them in whatever they did. It was due to the guidance they received from the teachers that they were able achieve this brilliant feat," said Aparna Ghosh, Sneha and Soha's mother.

A total of 7,55, 324 candidates appeared in the exam that was conducted between February 16 and February 29. This year's Higher Secondary Examination witnessed a pass percentage of 90 percent with 6,79,784 students qualifying the exam.
