A special court for MPs and MLAs in Bengaluru has issued an arrest warrant against JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna in the sexual assault case. Revanna, son of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, is on bail after spending seven days in jail after four-day police custody for allegedly kidnapping a woman.

A TMC worker has been detained for allegedly molesting a minor girl in West Bengal’s Sandeshkhali area, police said. The riverine Sandeshkhali area — situated on the borders of the Sundarbans, about 100 km from Calcutta — had been on the boil in February with protests over allegations of sexual abuse and land grab against now-arrested TMC leader Shajahan Sheikh and his supporters.

An elderly Dalit couple has been allegedly beaten up and made to wear garlands of shoes in Madhya Pradesh's Ashok Nagar district, police said. A case has been registered against 10 persons who were at large in connection with the incident of thrashing the couple which took place in Kilora village under Mungaoli police station limits, an official said.

A teacher of a private school in Ballia has been booked for allegedly thrashing a Class 10 student, leading to partial loss of hearing, the police said. Prateek's father Praveen Kumar Madhukar lodged a complaint alleging that his son was beaten up by his mathematics teacher Raghavendra after he found the boy talking to another student during the class, Vipin Singh, SHO of Ubhaon police station said.
