New Delhi: Orissa’s Anuradha Biswal improved her own national record in the women’s 100m hurdles, clocking 13.38 seconds in the DDA-Raja Bhalendra Singh National Athletic circuit meet on Monday.
Biswal improved her earlier mark of 13.40 set in Jakarta in 2002. K M Beenamol competing in 800m after a gap of one-and-a-half years won with a personal best of 2:02.01 seconds.
Earlier, Services’ Sanjay Ghosh pipped teammate and national champion P. Anil Kumar to win the men’s 100m in 10.5 seconds.Saraswati Dey (Railways) won the women’s 100m in in 11.47 seconds. Vinita Tripathi (LIC) and Rachita Mistry (Maharashtra), both competing for the first time this season finished second and third in 11.83 and 11.87, respectively.
In the men’s 400m there were two races (A and B). In race B, P Ramachandran beat Paramjit Singh of Police winning in 46.21 seconds. Paramjit clocked 46.45 and Satbir Singh of Services finished third in 46.59.
Jaspreeet Singh won the 400m A in 47.69sec ahead of Gurvinder Singh and Gurjinder Singh. In the men’s 800m K. M Binu won in 1:48.38 seconds. Steel Plant’s Primesh Kumar came second in 1:49.07 ahead of T M Sanjeev (Police) who clocked 1:50.62.
In the men’s 3000m Railways’ Gulab Chand, won in 8:17.13 seconds. Teammate Shivanand came second in 8.18:47 and Aman Saini of HP third in 8:19.24.
Poonam Balliappa of Karnataka finished second in 14.17 seconds behind Biswal. Bengal’s Soma Biswas was third in 14.31.
