Rupee at new high

Mumbai, Dec. 16: The rupee ended at yet another record peak against the US currency for the current calendar year today on the back of unabated robust flow of dollars from exporters and inward remittances even as a lingering weak dollar against other units also helped its gains. The rupee closed at the year’s new high of Rs 48.1400/1450 per dollar, sharply higher from last Friday’s finish of Rs 48.1725/1775.

Ranbaxy royalty

New Delhi, Dec. 16: Ranbaxy Laboratories will receive royalty on sales of Ciprofloxacin XR from Bayer. Bayer had commenced sales after receiving US Food and Drug Administration’s approval.

Barista rights

Mumbai, Dec. 16: Tata Coffee has decided to subscribe to 4.56 lakh equity shares (Rs 10 each) of Barista Coffee Co at a premium of Rs 50 per share by way of a rights issue.

Gold prices

London, Dec. 16: Gold rose to its highest in more than five years in London as a result of strengthening of the euro against the dollar. Oil prices too surged to a two-month high by 81 cents to $ 28.02 a barrel.

Aptech foray

Calcutta, Dec. 16: Aptech will expand its training business to the Latin American countries and is also developing courses in Portuguese. “The first centre will be set up in Brazil. We already have courses in Spanish,” said MD Pramod Khera.
