Shillong: In a mission to explore the possibility of setting up a football academy in Meghalaya, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) technical director Victor Stanculescu held talks with the state minister for sports and youth affairs, Paul Lyngdoh, on Monday.
Briefing newsmen after the meeting, Lyngdoh said the AFC official has come here to familiarise himself with the state’s football scenario. “He (Stanculescu) is impressed by seeing the football activities in the state,” Lyngdoh said.
A technical department would be set up to look after coaching, ladies football, sports medicine, referees’ training and school soccer in the state, he said. (PTI)
