Elephant attack

West Midnapore, Jan. 31: A 55-year-old woman was killed by an elephant at Satsole village in the Keshpur police station area this morning, reports our correspondent.

Tuni Bala Ghosh lost her life when the animal lifted her by its trunk and tossed her on the ground near her residence. The body has been sent for post-mortem.

“The incident took place around 5 in the morning when my mother opened the main gate of our house. As soon as she stepped out, I saw the elephant charging at her. And before I could do anything, it picked her up and tossed her on the ground,” said Khokon, Tuni Bala’s son.
