Bhubaneswar, Jan. 31 (PTI): National Aluminium Company (Nalco) has achieved a 36.8 per cent rise in net profit during the third quarter ended December, 2003.

Net profit during the nine-month period of 2003-04 rose to Rs 472.60 crore from Rs 345.39 crore reported in the same period last fiscal. The sales also went up 16.87 per cent to Rs 2,298.08 crore during the period under review from Rs 1,966.21 crore in the previous corresponding year.

The company also reported substantial growth in production of alumina and aluminium in the nine months.

Asahi net jumps

Asahi India Glass today said its net profit has grown over five-fold for the quarter ended December 2003 to Rs 17.54 crore from Rs 3.44 crore a year earlier.

Gross sales jumped 162 per cent year-on-year to Rs 157.57 crore from Rs 60.14 crore.
