Shillong, Feb. 8: Nagaland governor Shaymal Dutta said the “feel good factor” will hold the key in settling the 50-year long insurgency problem in Nagaland.
Datta was here as a special guest at the Rotary convention.
The Nagaland governor was of the opinion that the “improved ground situation” is a reflection that the peace process is headed in the right direction.
“A lot of initiative has being taken by tribal Hohos and the government peace consultative committee to build on the feel good factor and, therefore, it would be wrong to say that the peace process is stuck up somewhere,” said Dutta.
However, a long trail of unanswered questions on the Naga insurgency continues to haunt the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak Muivah) leaders in Thailand, who have reportedly stuck to their guns on the issue of integration of Naga-inhabited areas.
NSCN (I-M) chairman Isak Chisi Swu and general secretary Thuingaleng. Muivah are said to be persistent on their demand for a single administrative unit for the Nagas, which the Centre has been non-committal about.
The NSCN (I-M) leaders postponed their Delhi visit because of the Centre’s guarded approach on their demand for greater Nagalim. Last year the NSCN (I-M) leaders and the Centre met four times and each time the discussion ended on the issue of greater Nagalim.
