Calcutta, Feb. 21: A stellar eight-under 64 final round helped Ashok Kumar shoot way ahead of Mukesh Kumar to clinch the title at the Rs 7-lakh Sir Padampat Singhania Open played at the Noida Golf Course here Saturday. Ashok’s tournament tally stood at 16-under 272, his best four round score as a professional.
Mukesh, who had dream putts on Day III, lost his touch Saturday to finish with a round of one-under 71 and an aggregate of 12-under 276 for second place. Calcutta’s S.S.P. Chowrasia, with a final round of two-under 70, finished third at six-under 282, according to information reaching here.
This was Ashok’s third title win as a pro, and the NOIDA Golf Club course had been especially kind, having earned two wins off three events. In the third he was second.
