Rail ticket tout held during raid

A joint team of the NF Railway vigilance organisation, Latasil police and Railway Protection Force have arrested a woman for touting activities.

Bijoy Lakhmi Phukon was running an unauthorised travel agency called Aryan Drugs at Ambari. She failed to produce valid documents for purchasing and selling tickets when railway reservation tickets were seized from her office during the raid.

Kisan Divas

A national-level seminar on Ramie and Kisan Divas will be held at the Horticultural Research Station on Tuesday and Wednesday. It has been organised by the Assam Agricultural University and the directorate of jute development.

Bank meet

The Indian Institute of Bank Management will conduct a three-day intensive programme on Strategies for Recovery of Non-Performing Assets from Tuesday. The programme shall be inaugurated by Chandan Sinha, director of the Indian Institute of Bank Management.

Adventure club

The Beta Club of Narikalbari Zoo, Narengi Road, is organising a winter adventure club for children in association with the Assam Tourism Development Corporation Limited on February 28, 29 and March 2. It will include mountaineering, rock climbing and water sports.

Awareness

A community awareness programme will be held for heavy duty vehicle operators on Wednesday at the conference room of the district transport office. The programme is being organised by the Assam Science Technology and Environment Council on the occasion of National Science Day.

College week

The 22nd college week and annual prize distribution ceremony of Regional Dental College was held recently. Health commissioner Biren Dutta graced the occasion.

Seminar

A seminar on Understanding Children was organised for parents and teachers at the Peace Centre, Ambari on Sunday. It was jointly conducted by the Good Books Library and the Indo-German Social Service.

Waste

Experts spoke on the need to minimise industrial waste at a seminar on Waste Minimisation and Cleaner Production at the Small Industries Service Institute recently.
