New Delhi: Singapore’s Mardan Mamat showed that sport is played very much in the mind as he won the Rs 1.38 crore Royal Challenge Indian Open for his first professional title at the Delhi Golf Club here Sunday.
Mamat displayed great composure to overcome a three-stroke deficit going into the final round and carded a brilliant seven-under 65 for an overall 270 to walk away with $ 50,000 winner’s prize money.
The home fans had something to cheer about after Mukesh Kumar kept up his good work and finished fifth, with a final card of 70, alongside Thailand’s Thaworn Wiratchant.
Firoz Ali did even better with a 69 that pushed him up to the lone seventh place.
