Calcutta, July 5: Finance minister Asim Dasgupta today lifted the freeze on gratuity for retired schoolteachers and recruitment of non-teaching staff in government-sponsored institutions.
The freeze moves were a fallout of the government’s financial crunch and in place for the past three years.
Announcing the end of the recruitment bar in the Assembly, Dasgupta said the decision would help solve problems affecting the day-to-day activities of sponsored schools.
Teachers who have retired in the mean time will also get their dues now.
