New Delhi, July 21: The countrys exports grew 34.3 per cent to touch the $5.7-billion-mark in June this year compared with $4.2 billion in the same month of the previous year.
According to a commerce ministry press release, exports, in rupee terms, stood at Rs 25,824.5 crore, representing a growth of 30.9 per cent over June last year.
Exports during the first quarter (April-June) of the current financial year were up 28 per cent to $16.5 billion which represents a 28 per cent increase over the corresponding figure of $12.9 billion for the same period of the previous fiscal.
Imports during April-June are valued at $22.4 billion, an increase of 30.7 per cent over $17.2 billion worth of imports during the same period of the previous year. Oil imports have jumped 45 per cent to scale the $6.6-billion-mark compared with $4.6 billion worth of imports during the same period of the previous year.
