This Children?s Day producer Keshu Ramsay?s son Aryaman
had a surprise in store. Rajkumar Santoshi who, earlier this year, made Khakee
for Ramsay launched a new film with Aryaman on November 14, which happens
to be Santoshi?s son?s birthday.
The film, Family, is jointly produced by Keshu Ramsay and AB Corp Ltd. It has Amitabh Bachchan playing a gangster. Akshay Kumar, who was brilliant in Ramsay-Santoshi?s Khakee, plays a chef with his own catering van.
Laughs Santoshi, ?Akshay was a chef in Bangkok before he became a star. So this role would be quite a homecoming for him!?
The screenplay is written jointly by Santoshi and Sridhar Raghvan (who also wrote Khakee). Says Santoshi, ?The gangster?s role will be one of the most challenging roles Amitji has ever played. It has more shades to it than what he did in Khakee in terms of the dynamics of the drama?. It is the story of two families ? Amitji?s and Akshay?s.?
Santoshi insists Family isn?t a launch pad for Aryaman. ?Family doesn?t revolve around Aryaman. Amitji plays the main role. Aryaman fitted well into the plot, that?s all.? Meanwhile Santoshi is working on a script for Aishwarya Rai with Ajay Devgan. ?Because she did me a favour by doing Khakee. I?ve to do something important for her.?
So does it mean the other Amitabh Bachchan project, Ranveer, which Santoshi was to make is finally scrapped? ?Not at all. We?re working on the script. It will be made, but not right now.?
Adds Akshay, ?What I?m really looking forward to is playing a chef in Family. I?ve played the crook so many times. Now it?s time for the cook.?
