Dear God, I wished you a dashing birthday (on November
2). I chant every morning, ?Long Live! King Khan.? I?ve also got a pocketful of
wishes for your every success, wherever your name appears.
God, I?m ready to confess that I am a confused devotee
of yours rather than being a fervent fan. To date I couldn?t understand if my
life is following your movies or your movies are following me. Let me explain
? When I was in the fifth standard, I saw a girl. I knew nothing except her name
? Kiran. She drove me crazy. The next month the audio of your first film with
Yash Raj banner? Darr ? got released. That film firmed me more on my love
and I was just nuts about her. After a long trial somehow she accepted my proposal
on September 29, 1995. Love was in the air when your Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge
was released. That boosted our romance and it made you an overnight romantic
star. The film also gave me an additive to my original name ? Raj. I started using
my name with Raj, ever since.
As days passed by, our physics teacher came to know
about my love story. He interfered. But I made a plan. I helped my other three
friends to start their love stories, as well. All of a sudden another miracle
happened that winter? Mohabbatein, your second film with Adi (Aditya Chopra),
that depicted you as a great lover and who helped his students to get their loved
ones, released. But this was just the beginning.
I started studying Indian history. Suddenly you came
with Asoka. I used to have the usual fights with my girlfriend. I did suspect
her with another guy. Your delayed film, Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam, came with
almost the same storyline. After a month we had parted.
By the time, one of your greatest film got released
on July 12, 2002 ? Devdas. The very next day, I met my girlfriend. Her
version was ? she?s got engaged with that guy. I started drinking (as in Devdas),
whenever I got depressed.
But this time, too, my life was saved. I got a new
friend. She started impressing me and I was in love again. She showed me how colourful
life is. I got a new definition of life ??Enjoy life, kya pata, kal
ho na ho. The film Kal Ho Naa Ho released last winter, when I started
a new life.
Now, this is a fact, that she is from Pakistan and
you are doing Veer-Zaara, which is also about an Indo-Pak love story. Last
but not the least, I have come back to my home town from Chennai after three long
years. Now, I want to stay here because this is my Swades.
People (including my parents and friends) call me
a copycat. But dear Godji, I do believe that your films and I are just apt for
each other. I am a rishi whose idol for worship is you. I?m nobody to comment
on your talent, versatility, etc, as there are too many pundits out there
to talk about that. I just know, whenever I feel down and out I switch on to your
movies. You are everything to me and your movies inspired me to join a course
on film studies. You are my only inspiration, my aspiration, and you are in my
respiration, as well.
Devoted to you, always.
