Bangalore: National champion Chetan Anand won the men?s singles of the Toulouse Open in Cahors, France, beating Kasper Oedum of Denmark. He prevailed over the higher-ranked opponent 15-5, 11-15, 15-10 in 63 minutes.
Indian duo Sanave Thomas and Rupesh Kumar won the men?s doubles beating Ingo Kindervater and Kristoff Hopp of Germany 15-7, 15-13.
Earlier in the tournament, India?s No. 2 Arvind Bhat had upset the top seed and world No. 11 Bjorn Joppien of Germany in a thrilling pre-quarter final match.
Chetan defeated Arvind 10-15, 15-8, 17-16 in a hard fought quarter final match.
Meanwhile, India?s top women?s doubles combination of Jwala Gutta and Shruti Kurien finished runners-up losing to the second seeds Petya Nedelcheva and Anastasia Russkikh of Russia 11-15, 6-15.
The women?s singles event was won by Ella Karachkova of Russia who beat Sara Persson of Sweden 7-11, 13-10, 11-13 in the final. (PTI)
