Govt waits for power dues

Bhubaneswar, Dec. 5: The Orissa government is yet to recover dues worth over Rs 4,000 crore from the four power distribution companies in the state

Replying to a question in the Assembly yesterday, Orissa energy minister Surya Patro said Cesco, Nesco, Wesco and Southco ? are yet to clear their dues.

Till September 30, Cesco owed Rs 1,545.84 crore, Nesco, Rs 468.06 crore, Wesco, Rs 467.43 crore and Southco, Rs 365.88 crore towards arrears.

Besides, Cesco would have to pay 519.41 crore, Nesco, Rs 287.35 crore, Southco, Rs 134.09 crore and Wesco, Rs 215.26 crore as surcharge for late payment, he added.
