Buri nazarwaale tera munh kaala is possibly what the National Students Union in Nagpur believes in. And Shakti Kapoor was in for a rude shock when he arrived there for a performance. The union had approached him saying they wanted to honour him with garland and tilak, and instead emptied a bottle of blue ink on him. The sting spillover?

Control, yaar, control!

Anybody who’s seen the so-called ‘Riya-Ashmit’ MMS, or the pix published in an afternoon daily, admits that the Kareena-Shahid soul smooch was just kid stuff. Here, allegedly, both are heard and seen indulging in bedroom antics that would turn you blue in the face. But, frankly, we just don’t, repeat, don’t believe it, especially in this age of digital wizardry. And even if it is Riya-Ashmit, how did such private moments become public? A private sting? Or just someone maliciously trying to tar the poor girl’s image? Rumours point towards Ashmit, though that sounds equally mischievous. Their relationship went into rough weather earlier this year when Ashmit felt Riya was cheating on him. They say, in a rage, he had circulated the very personal MMS clips to whomever he could. This conclusion seems imaginative enough, just because of the way Ashmit reacted to the story ? no reaction! And that he had been reportedly enquiring with the TV channels whether it would be telecast ? and there was a certain eagerness in his voice, not anxiety. Come on, guys, contrrrol! Someone should get to the bottom of all this, or this whole business could spin out of control.

Kuch kuch hota hai

Dia is slowly getting over her boyfriend blues. She has a man in her life again. Though he doesn’t have the charisma or the looks, he has what it takes to make a relationship tick. Sameer Hafeez is no hunk like Bunty Sachdeva or a director like Apurva Lakhiya, nor is he a smooch stud like Emraan Hashmi. But he’s someone Dia can really talk to and spend time with. He’s intelligent and can talk about everything from films to Shakespeare, observe Dia’s close ones. But Dia is not in a hurry yet. She is just getting to know this someone special. “It is a very good friendship and it is too early to call it love,” she admits. Give her a little more time, people.

Seriial kiiller?

Got it right, folks. We are now going to bitch about Ektaa Kapoor, the serial killer. We have been observing one thing about her primetime soaps ? Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Kyunki...Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahiin To Hoga or K. Street Pali Hill for quite some time ? the same incident is recurring in all of them, at the same time! Earlier it was courtroom and jail. And now it’s road accidents. While some are returning unharmed, some are lost forever. While Ronit Roy (Mihir) was revived in KSBKBT, Rajeev Khandelwal (Sujal) in KTH was shown the door last week. Again, this week Jassi Kaur (Smriti) of K. Street Pali Hill met with a sudden accident and it looks like she’ll need a plastic surgeon. Naturally, one is curious to know if we’ll see her face again. But Jassi seems to be confident “it’s a short break...I’ll be back on the show soon”. Hope Ektaa won’t be angry with her, for she has been shooting for Aahat during this break...

SPOTLIGHT

Meera to lead a merry dance

Let the world become her enemy, no one can curb Meera’s love for films, especially Indian films. Not one to feel low because of all the controversy her debut film, Nazar, created, she seems all the more ready to bare it all. Meera has already shot for her next film, Rajeev Babbar’s Kasak, and the film promises a lot of skin show. The director does the routine confession that his script required a lovemaking scene and that it’s a romantic film with a few songs and love scenes. Here, Meera will be getting up-close and personal with Lucky Ali. Quite an unusual pair, isn’t it? But Babbar has his reason. This is how he is trying to avoid further controversies. Lucky Ali is himself a conservative Muslim and that just might keep trouble off Babbar’s back.

After taking on Urmila Naina Matondkar in a similar kind of film same week, Meera is now setting up competition for Priyanka Chopra. She has been signed by director Afzal Ahmed to play Umrao Jaan while Priyanka has been signed by J.P. Dutta for the same! Though Priyanka is least perturbed by the fact that being a Pakistani, she can speak Urdu a lot better Pri Chops simply smiles it off with a “May the best woman win”. Now who’ll prove to be a more authentic baiji is for us to see.
