Just not fun

Mazaa mazaa

Director: T.L.V. Prasadh
Cast:
Payal Rohatgi, Viswajeet Pradhan, Shivani, Pankaj Berry

1.5/10

Even the good old fairytale has lost its innocence. Mazaa Mazaa is a piece of sleaze that purports to be an innocent tale about a despondent Plain Jane who transforms overnight into a shapely 25-year-old. Producer-director T.L.V. Prasadh, who switched from the mediocrity of Mithun Chakraborty’s Ooty Specials to the tackiness of Tauba Tauba last year (by adding an ‘h’ to his surname), slips another notch as a filmmaker with his latest production.

Skin fills the screen the moment a directorial conspiracy suddenly turns Mazaa Mazaa’s supposedly virtuous teen protagonist, Jassi, into a glamour doll with 10 years more behind her. Prasadh does not even attempt to deviate from the usual C-grade film formula, which means half the film is dedicated to girls gallivanting in skimpy attire. The leading man, newcomer Viswajeet, is awkward in trying to look macho, while Payal Rohatgi is at best a poor man’s Mallika Sherawat. Mazaa Mazaa is just not fun, never mind the title.
