Game Point
Of demons and angels

Constantine is the latest keanu reeves game after The Matrix. You could not play as Neo (Keanu) in The Matrix but in this game you can play as John Constantine (Keanu). The game starts with a brilliant cutscene in which Keanu performs an exorcism upon a girl. This scene shows how well the graphics are rendered. If you have seen the movie, this one?s going to attract you all the more. All your favourites from the movie are here, or are at least imitated to a degree. The voices are splotchy, but the character models look great and with suspense action levels so high, it?s usually hard to care about the poor script. Fans of the movie will get thrilled by the plot, chilled by the experience, and a migraine from the things only half done. Keanu Reeves?s voice double is tolerable, but his character?s blunt attitude from the film is missing.

Nyone looking for a good action/suspense romp with a few simplistic puzzles thrown in for good measure will be delighted. But those looking for pure action are going to be disappointed. Keanu Reeves?s appearance is pretty good in the video game version of Constantine, but the attitude and voice are not. Gone is the cigarette-caressed voice spouting lines of surprisingly insulting and increasingly outrageous zings. Gone is his attitude of unfazed carelessness, thinking only of himself in divine company.

Constantine is very similar to your average action movie. The hero runs around with a multitude of weapons, finding clues that lead towards some major goal (in this case, solving the mystery of mortal-plane dwelling demons and the murder of a half-angel).

He graphics of the game are very well done and the characters are excellent in design and animation, matching the movie, blow for blow. The coolest effect, by far, is that of the camera. It is one of the friendlier cameras we have seen, allowing for play in tight areas, but more importantly, it shows off some of the coolest effects in the game.

His camera has every effect from the movie, including selective zooms, crazy zooms and even some slow-motion effects. Quite a nice touch. Coupled with the graphics is the audio. It?s superb.

Ound effects and NPC speech are very well put together. Things start looking good when the music starts up. The rock tunes are, while a little generic, very fitting. Including some of the bands from the movie would have been nice but the music is good nonetheless.

F you see the game as a standalone and not based upon any movie, then it may not come up to the mark. But if you are a fan of Keanu Reeves (like me) this is a must-buy.
