SUBJECT: Entrance test on February 12, 2006, for admission to four-year undergraduate programmes in design (fashion and apparel, fashion and textile, fashion and lifestyle accessories, and fashion communication) and fashion technology; two-year postgraduate programmes in fashion technology and fashion management for the academic year 2006 to be held in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Dehra Dun, Delhi, Gulbarga, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Calcutta, Lucknow, Madurai, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Pune, Raipur, Surat, Udaipur, Ranchi, Siliguri, Vadodara, Vishakhapatnam.
ELIGIBILITY: For undergraduate programmes in
design: (i) 10+2 from a recognised board of education; (ii)
any public school/board/university examination in India
or in foreign countries recognised by the Association of
Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system; (iii)
pass grade in senior secondary examination conducted by
the National Open School with minimum of five subjects;
(iv) a three or four-year diploma recognised by AICTE or
a state board of technical education. For undergraduate
programmes in fashion technology: Same as above with physics,
chemistry, and maths as core subjects at 10+2 level. For
postgraduate programme in fashion technology: BE/ BTech
in textiles/ apparel/ mechanical/ industrial/ production/
electronics/ computer science/ information technology. For
postgraduate programme in fashion management: Graduation
or equivalent qualification in any discipline recognised
by the Association of Indian Universities or a diploma in
accessory/ fashion design/ FIT from NIFT only. Seats reserved
for SC/ ST/ physically handicapped candidates according
to Government of India rules. Fifteen per cent seats are
reserved for NRI/ foreign nationals/ SAARC country residents
in each discipline on supernumerary basis. Candidates appearing
for their Plus Two examination or final year degree examination
can also apply. However, their admissions will be provisional
and subject to obtaining the defined eligibility by July
30, 2006.
PARTICULARS: The prospectus
can be obtained from all branches of UTI Bank across the
country on payment of Rs 200, or by post by enclosing a
bank draft of Rs 300 in favour of ?NIFT? payable at ?New
Delhi? from all NIFT centres. The filled-in application
