1.5 lakh returned

Calcutta, Nov. 26: Abhay Sinha Roy, a taxi driver, handed over to police Rs 1.5 lakh, which a passenger left behind last evening.

Nepal Mondol, a courier collection agent, had travelled in the taxi with the money. Minutes after realising that it was still there, Roy drove to Bowbazar police station.

Death by fall

Calcutta: Suvendu Bhaduri, 40, an electrician, died after he fell on a glass pane over a cubicle while working in an 18th floor office on Camac Street. He was repairing a fan while balancing on the edges of a cubicle.

Tram hits cop

Calcutta: A. Basak, a police sergeant, was hit by a tram car off South- ern Avenue while on his way to work at 5 am. He is now in hospital.
