ONGC drilling

Calcutta, Dec. 16: ONGC will determine in a few weeks whether to continue drilling for oil in Sunderbans.

“In about five weeks, we’ll decide whether to continue at the present site or think of other prospects,” chairman Subir Raha said at Writers’ Buildings today. He was here with petroleum minister Mani Shankar Aiyer to inspect the off-shore drilling in Sunderbans, 40 km into sea from Sagar Island.

Bypass death

Calcutta: A Salt Lake resident was run over by a CTC bus near Apollo Gleneagles Hospital on Friday evening. K.K. Sinha, 60, was crossing EM Bypass when hit.

Molest arrest

Calcutta: Muhammad Rabbani, 50, of Motijheel in Entally was arrested on Friday. He was accused of molesting a 14-year-old neighbour.
