March 10, 11 and 12 saw Heritage Institute of Technology,
Calcutta, celebrating its annual fest Eclecia?06. The event started with an intra-college
competition, followed by the much-awaited DJ night on the 10th.
The quiz named ?Brain-n-Skull? kick-started the inter-college
events on the 11th, with IEM bagging the first prize. The performances by various
college bands such as those of Ashutosh, Jadavpur University, St Thomas, etc,
were quite superb in ?On The Rocks?, the music band competition. Phoenix, the
South City College band, claimed the first place, and the Heritage band, Calcutta
Crossovers, came second here.
But the event that impressed one and all was ?Vibrantz?,
the fashion show. ?Harmony? (solo singing), ?Jhankar? (antakshari) and
?Dhoom? (choreography) were on the events list on Sunday. Debajeet Das of Heritage
sang his way to success. Actress Debaleena Dutta and ballet dancer Amrita Mukherjee
adjudged the final year Heritage dance troupe, the winners of Dhoom. Celebrated
artistes and chief guests Wasim Kapoor and Sheila Kapoor gave away the prizes.
The fest came to an end with a scintillating performance by the band Indian Ocean,
with the notes of the song Are ruk ja re bande still resonating in our
ears.

Prize catch
The University of Calcutta (CU) Centenary auditorium
at the Ashutosh Siksha Prangan swayed to the foot-tapping beat of upcoming Bangla
band 4WD on March 2 on the occasion of the prize distribution ceremony of the
annual sports and cultural competition organised by the CU students? union. The
winners were thrilled with the glittering medals made especially for the occasion.
The programme included a rendition of popular movie songs by students.

Up in Flamz
The excitement of our annual cultural fest, Flamz
2006, was a little marred by the ongoing board exams. But the performance by Mumbai-based
band, Zero, on the final day, lifted our spirits. Their performance was mind-blowing
(especially that of drummer Gino Banks and their lead singer Rajiv). Other engineering
college students were immensely impressed by the organisation of our fest, the
credit for which must go to the second-year students of FIEM.

Music time
The annual social of Heramba Chandra College was held
on February 27, 2006, at the Nazrul Manch. The afternoon started with the felicitation
of the outstanding sportspersons of the college by our principal Amitava Basu.
Then it was time for some melodious Bengali as well as English numbers. This was
followed by a pulsating performance by singer Shayne Hyrapiet. Finally, the mega
event of the evening took place with Rahul Vaidya entertaining the crowd with
some hit dance tracks.

performances by the bands Euphoria, Fossils and L.R.B. The first day had solo
and group songs, folk dances, a quiz contest and a dazzling show by Euphoria in
the evening. The next day saw fun events like ?Khiladiyon ka khiladi?, ?Adam &
Eve? and an antakshari, followed by a college dance performance in the

in the tech fest.
