Woman paraded

Calcutta, March 29: Malati Halder, 32, was tonsured and paraded with her clothes in dis- array at Mandirbazar in South 24-Parganas for allegedly having an extramarital affair, though her husband had no such complaint.

In an FIR lodged at Mandirbazar police station, about 70 km from Calcutta, Malati said she was beaten up and made to walk with a garland of shoes around her neck on Saturday. Shaken and humiliated, she had fled the village with husband Prasanta, a daily wager. The couple lodged the complaint on their return last night.

Doctor strike

Durgapur: Nursing homes, pathological centres and doctors’ chambers here were closed on Wednesday. The doctors were protesting the arrest of three physicians on Saturday following the death of a patient in OT.

HS paper

Calcutta: The HS council has lodged a complaint at Jorasanko police station against Mohammed Adil, whose physics second paper answer script could not be traced after Wednesday’s exam. He is being questioned.
