Like a well-oiled machine

The other guy who works like a bicycle chain in a Tollywood television scene which at the moment seems to have no mai-baap, is Joy Mukharji. Moving at a relentless pace from one telefilm to another, from one channel to another, it’s a wonder how the man remembers the minute details of which is to go where and in which telefilm.

With slick efficiency, Joy had just moved from last week’s Zee Bangla’s telefilm to this one for Aakaash Bangla’s Sahitya Shera Somoy slot, not to mention his next, and next already sealed and to be shot. Based on Gajendrakumar Mitra’s story, Abhabaniyo is primarily about two sisters, twins actually, but one fair and one dark and in the eye of a matrimonial storm.

The well-endowed fair one (not fair to call her fat!) is played by Saptamita Basu, and the angular-faced dusky twin (in other, ointment words, dark and lovely) is played by Pauli Dam. A study in contrasts, and well cast in terms of the story of differing twins. The only thing they share, lookswise, seem to be an equally striking pair of eyes. And look, both are rising as small screen actresses at quite a pace.

Scheduled telecast:

Aakaash Bangla; May 1-6; 7:00 pm
