Dubai: GM RB Ramesh defeated SP Sethuraman to finish joint fourth after ninth and final round of the Dubai International Open Chess Championship on Tuesday.

There was a three-way tie at the top but GM Sergey Fedorchuk of Ukraine emerged as the champion on a better tiebreak score .

IMs Abhijeet Gupta, Vishal Sareen and S. Satyapragyan were also among prize winners after they all won their final round games against lower-rated opponents.

Among other Indians, double GM-norm holder P. Negi lost his final round game against GM Evgenij Miroshnichenko of Ukraine and finished with 5.5 points. (PTI)
