Mumbai: Ritwik Bhattacharya
got off to an encouraging start when he beat Rob Sutherland
of Wales 13-11, 10-12, 11-8, 11-2 in the qualifiers of the
Liverpool 08 Open on Tuesday.
Ritwik will next face Jean Michael
Arcucci of France in the final qualifying round, according
to information received.
The competition is one of Europe’s
biggest squash tournaments that features the top players
of the game.
The line-up includes Thierry Lincou
and Gregory Gaultier of France, David Palmer of Australia,
James Willstrop, Nick Matthew and Lee Beachill, all Britain,
John White of Scotland and Karim Dawaish of Egypt, among
