Sleeping beauties

Two burglars were arrested after they fell asleep in the very house they had broken into. Police found the men fast asleep on a couch in Malaysia’s southern state of Johor, reports the Berita Harian newspaper. The burglars had reportedly broken into the house and stolen jewellery and other valuables before realising they were hungry, which is when they raided the refrigerator. And thereafter, they decided to take a nap. When the woman who owns the house happened to spot the burglars catching a nap, she alerted the police. The police arrived in time to jolt the burglars out of their blissful state and arrest the two of them.

Blooming buds

Here’s to the daffodils. Blooming Daffodils Montessori House along with its unit of the Teacher’s Training Centre, recently stepped into its 10th year. The programme started off with the lighting of the diya by one of the students. This was followed by the welcome song swagatam subha swagatam. Alphabet club, a rhythmic event where the toddlers taught their parents and grandparents the intricacies of ABCD, was the show stealer. For a change, children ruled the roost. Other events presented by the students were a lively Bachpan Dance, Boogie Woogie and a colourful bhangra. Vibrant faces and twinkling eyes combined with with spirited performances made the event memorable.
