GAIL?s Uzbek plants
Mumbai, May 8: GAIL (India) Ltd will set up LPG plants in Uzbekistan as part of its globalisation drive. The plants will be established in partnership with national oil and gas firm Uzbekneftegaz at an estimated investment of $50-60 million each, GAIL informed the Bombay Stock Exchange. The multiple gas-based plants will have a capacity of one lakh tonnes per annum and produce LPG predominantly for the domestic market of Uzbekistan.
GSM base
New Delhi, May 8: The GSM mobile subscriber base crossed the 70-million mark in April with an addition of 2.93 million users. Bharti Airtel is the leading operator with a 28.7 per cent market share and 20.68 million subscribers.
Infosys stake
New Delhi, May 8: N.R. Narayana Murthy, Nandan Nilekani and the other directors of Infosys Technologies, along with foreign institutional investors, own half of the company, despite a gradual drop in their shareholdings.
VSNL move
Mumbai, May 8: Videsh Sanchar Nigam has signed a share purchase agreement to acquire Direct Internet and its subsidiary Primus Telecommunications India for Rs 75 crore, the company informed BSE.
Power clash
New Delhi, May 8: In a setback to power trading companies, including the Tatas and Reliance, the appellate tribunal for electricity has dismissed their plea against central power regulator CERC on imposing trading margins.
