I really sympathise with medical students who have to master tomes on biology. Those heavy medical books are perhaps more apt for building your muscles. I, therefore, thought of helping those friends of mine who want to pursue a career in medicine.
There is this very good site called www.medicinenet.com, which promises to ?bring doctors? knowledge to you?. It?s a minefield of health-related information and articles written by doctors who are specialists in their respective fields. It has got various sections like news and views, diseases and conditions, symptoms and signs, and so on.
But first, I would like to tell you about the homepage. It?s sober but fun at the same time. The homepage informs you that MedicineNet is a registered network of US Board Certified Physicians and Allied Health Professionals. You can also communicate with some of these specialists, who would answer your individual queries and problems. And with its vast stock of information, the site can really be of great help to those preparing for their medical entrance exams. It has a daily health news section that has articles like ?trim calories for healthier ageing?, ?for heavy menstrual bleeding?, ?kids and headaches? and so on. The section called ?New on MedicineNet? discusses specific professional areas like strep throat symptoms and diagnosis, thyroid scan and how it works, etc.
But www.medicinenet.com has something for the non-medical people too. The two links to work and health, and marriages and relationships will surely attract the layman.
Best of luck with your entrance exams and keep me posted.
