Bill to set up jute board

New Delhi, May 22 (PTI): The government today introduced a bill in Lok Sabha to set up a national jute board by merging Jute Manufacturers Development Council and National Centre for Jute Diversification.

Introducing the national jute board bill, textile minister Shankersinh Vaghela said the main purpose of setting up the jute board was to avoid multiplicity of efforts and programmes.

The board will be an umbrella body for the jute sector.
