Bangla rampage
Savar (Bangladesh), May 22 (AP): Textile workers demanding better pay and working conditions went on a rampage today at an industrial zone near the Bangladeshi capital, setting fire to two factories and several buses, police and witnesses said.
At least 100 people, including several police, were hurt when factory guards and riot police intervened to disperse the protesters at Savar.
Qaida arrest
Amman (Reuters): Jordanian security authorities have arrested a senior al Qaida operative thought to be behind a spate of kidnappings and killing of foreigners and other acts of violence, the state news agency said on Monday.
