Should backward caste students be promoted even if they fail in maths and English?

Not at all. Promotion rules must be equal for all. It will be sheer injustice to give preferential treatment to students of any particular caste.

In all the competitive exams for employment, maths and English are compulsory. Even if backward class students are promoted now without clearing these subjects, they are bound to suffer later.

India seems to be the only country in the world where people fight to remain backward! It?s quite likely that such leniency will keep them backward forever. Also, such a move will only make other students resent them.
