Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Mesra, is a ?deemed university? and functions under the overall supervision and control of a board of governors, comprising representatives of the ministry of education, Government of India, the UGC, the state government, the chancellor, the AICTE, etc. The governor of Jharkhand is the chancellor of the institute. The technical council decides the academic policy of the institute.

Over the last 50 years, the institute has taken a lead in the introduction of programmes in emerging areas and today offers undergraduate, postgraduate as well as doctoral programmes. A rich heritage of academic excellence, constant upgradation of academic infrastructure, interaction with the industry, effective teaching skills of its faculty, an environment that promotes productive research and, most of all, a stringent intake of the best talent have placed BIT amongst the frontrunners in the domain of technical education and research. BIT has graduated over 15,000 degree-holders in engineering and technology and over 2,000 postgraduates. The active research programmes of the institute have produced a number of doctorates (PhDs) in various areas.

The undergraduate information brochure containing the prescribed application form and the details of the eligibility criteria, number of seats, fee structure, reservations is available from April to June, on payment of Rs 800 by a bank draft drawn in favour of BIT Mesra payable at Ranchi.

You can use the application form provided with the brochure to apply for admission to only one of the undergraduate programmes described in this brochure. But in the case of multi-centre programmes, candidates may use the same form to apply for any or all of the concerned centres, mentioning the order of preference of centre for study.

Apart from the BSc in animation and multimedia, BIT Mesra also offers bachelor of engineering in various disciplines, courses on architecture, business administration, hotel management, computer applications, and pharmaceutical sciences. Eligibility

nYou should have passed the Class XII examination of the 10+2 system from a recognised central or state board or its equivalent with a minimum of 50 per cent marks in the aggregate.

Entrance exam

Admission to this course is based on your marks in Class XII or equivalent examination, aptitude test and personal interview.

Pattern of exam

The entrance test assesses your creative aptitude in art work, technical aspects of software, movie making, computer proficiency, etc. It has a mix of objective and subjective-type questions.

How to prepare

You must have a creative, innovative and analytical mind. You should also have the ability to think in terms of two and three dimensions. Some books you can prepare from are Digital Multimedia by Chapman, Multimedia Magic by Gokul, Digital Animations Bible by Avgerakis, 3D Animations and Film Making by Marino and Character Animation and Film Production by Neuhahn.
