Hailakandi, July 28: Hosts Silchar tamed North Cachar Hills 6-1 in the inaugural match of the 30th Satindra Mohan Dev sub-junior inter-district football meet that got under way today at S.M. Dev Stadium in Silchar.

Mailong Kabui struck thrice in the 10th, 15th and 70th minutes for the home side. L. Dinesh Singha pum-ped in two goals in the 27th and 39th minutes. Tarun Rongmei scored the sixth goal in the 79th minute. In the second half, the NC Hills boys regrouped themselves. This paid off, with P.N. Kuame scoring in the 72nd minute.

Tomorrow, Nalbari clash with Charaideo at India Club Ground and Karimganj meet Sadiya at S.M. Dev Stadium.

Altogether 26 teams are participating in the meet.

Dhubri League: New Gadadhar Club on Friday thrashed Netaji Club 6-0 in the Dhubri first division football league at Dhubri Sports Complex here. With the win New Gadadhar Club and Town Club lead the tally with six points each.
