Activist suspends fast

Aizawl, July 28: Mizo human rights activist Vanramchhuangi ended her fast-unto-death programme after she was assured that a CBI inquiry would be commissioned into the disappearance of a Vairengte boy.

?Chief secretary Hauk-hum Hauzel and DGP Lalngheta Sailo have assured me that the case would be referred to the CBI. Because of this, I have postponed my agitation indefinitely,? said Vanramchhuangi, popularly known by her pen name Ruatfela Nu.

?I was very annoyed by the Mizoram?s government?s lack of interest so to drum up some interest, I decided to go on a fast. This seems to have work-ed, since steps have been taken by the state government to get the CBI involved,? she said.
