INDIAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT, CALCUTTA

SUBJECT: Admission to the postgraduate programme in computer-aided management (PGDCM), commencing from June, 2007, to be done on the basis of CAT scores, performance in Aptitude Test in Mathematics (ATM), performance in GD and interview, relevant work experience and past scholastic achievement.

ELIGIBILITY: The candidate must hold a bachelors degree, with at least 50 per cent marks or equivalent CGPA (45 per cent for SC/ST/PWD candidates) from any university incorporated in an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutes established by an act of parliament or declared to be deemed as a university under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognised by the ministry of HRD of the Government of India.

The bachelors degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent. Candidates appearing for the final bachelors degree or equivalent exam can also apply provided they submit a certificate latest by June 30, 2007 from the principal or registrar of their college or institute (issued n or before June 30, 2007) stating that they have completed all the requirements for obtaining the bachelors degree or equivalent qualification on the date of issue of the certificate.

PARTICULARS: A candidate is required to send a crossed demand draft for Rs 600 (non refundable) in favour of Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, payable in Calcutta along with the following details: Name of the candidate, CAT application number or test registration number, e-mail address, complete address, telephone number. Alternatively the candidates can also download the application form from the website, www.iimcal.ac.in, and send the same duly filled in along with the demand draft for Rs 600. For further details, refer to CAT 2006 bulletin. Sample questions for ATM will be sent to the applicants in due course. The CAT admit card must be preserved for ATM to be held just prior to the interview. For any clarifications, contact the institute directly or log on to the website www.iimcal.ac.in.

Mathematics

THE REGIONAL MATHEMATICAL OLYMPIAD, 2006.

Last Date for application: October 20, 2006.

SUBJECT: The National Board for Higher Mathematics in India (funded by the Department of Atomic Energy, government of India) will hold the Regional Mathematical Olympiad 2006 for West Bengal on December 3, 2006, at Berhampore, Burdwan, Calcutta, Kharagpur, Purulia, Santiniketan and Siliguri.

ELIGIBILITY: Only students with outstanding mathematical ability studying in Class VIII, IX, X, XI or XII in any school or college in West Bengal are eligible to participate. Students, particularly Class VIII students, not especially talented in mathematics need not apply.

PARTICULARS: Application forms can be obtained from Professor H. Sarbadhikari, Regional coordinator, Stat-Math Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, 203 B.T. Road, Calcutta 700108 on any working day of the institute.

Request for application form by post should be accompanied by a self-addressed Rs 5 envelope. Signed application on plain paper giving name, address of correspondence, class, name and address of school and centre preferred will also be accepted.

Each application should be accompanied by two passport-sized photographs, a demand draft for Rs 60 drawn in favour of the Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta, and an attested copy of the latest mark sheet showing the class.

Please send a self-addressed 12”X6” Rs 20 envelope also if you want the admit card to be sent by post.
