SC raps state

New Delhi, Sept. 26: The Supreme Court today issued a contempt notice to the Bengal housing secretary for not co-operating in the eviction of politicians and public servants illegally occupying government flats and bungalows in Calcutta.

Expressing displeasure over the state not giving details on steps taken to evict them, a bench headed by Justice B.N. Agarwal directed the secretary to appear before it on November 7. The state’s counsel said the officer concerned had not supplied the details.

Hore ill
