Nayudu award for spin quartet

Mumbai: The famed spin quartet of the 1960s and 1970s would be conferred with the C.K. Nayudu award at a function to inaugurate the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) headquarters here on November 4.

Erapalli Prasanna, Bhagwat Chandrasekhar, Srinivas Venkatraghavan and Bishan Singh Bedi — who between them took over 800 Test wickets — are to be presented with the prestigious award, jointly for the year 2004, which carries a trophy and a prize of Rs 2 lakh each. Three other earlier recipients — Pataudi (2001), B.B. Nimbalkar (2002) and Chandu Borde (2003) — would also be presented with the award, according to board sources, who said they have not as yet received the trophy.

The board has also chosen the occasion of shifting its headquarters from the Brabourne Stadium to the Wankhede Stadium premises to honour all past captains and presidents.
