LOOSE CHANGE

Capital safety

Franklin Templeton has launched a capital protected fund. It is offering Franklin Templeton Capital Safety Fund in two different maturity periods — three years and five years. The fund is a closed-end scheme with both growth and dividend options. The scheme is open for subscription between October 31 and November 30. There is no entry or exit loads and the minimum investment is Rs 5,000. However, being a hybrid fund, investors will not be able to claim the capital gains tax benefits as available in equity schemes.

Sector funds

JM Financial Mutual Fund has launched two schemes — a services sector fund and a telecom sector fund. Both are open-ended, equity-oriented schemes. The new fund offers close on November 20. The services sector fund proposes to invest mostly in the equities of banking and finance sector stocks. The minimum investment is Rs 5,000 in both schemes.
