Archers in foreign coaches’ good books

Jamshedpur, Nov. 5: Indian archers would give other players a tough competition, believe coaches of foreign teams who are here to participate in the second edition of the Commonwealth Archery Championship.

While shooting at their home turf would be their biggest advantage their recent performance would also keep them in high spirits.

Team manager of the UK archery team, Tom Williamson said: “The women archers are very good and we are expecting a good fight from them. Scotland and Wales are also in good form.”

South African manager and non playing captain Selvyn Moskovitz pointed out that Indian archers have learnt the game in a very short span of time. “Though we are expecting a good performance from the UK and Australia, India is also expected to give us a tough competition,” said Moskovitz.

On the other hand, Bangladesh team coach Nishit Das pointed out, “We have just taken up archery and hope to learn a lot from this tournament,” said Das.

The Commonwealth Archery Championships is being organised after a gap of 13 years and would witness the participation of approximately 120 archers and officials from 12 countries.
