Through the looking glass
Ankur Guha,
Class VII, Campion School, Mumbai

Famous Five stories
Are the stories I like.
Each story is very cool,
Adventure is the word that in each story rules.
Not to forget Timmy,
Or George, his mistress.
During any trouble
He runs the fastest.
During holidays,
To different places they go.
Be it Mystery Moor or Billycock Hill,
I like their
adventures ever so.

The Famous Five —
Julian, Dick, Georgina, Anne and Timmy,
Always get involved in some mystery.
Julian is wise and tall,
While Anne is the youngest of them all.
Dick and George are of the same age,
Dick is quiet and George’s always in a rage.
Most sensible is Timmy,
George’s dog who’s witty.

Sohini Dutt,
Class VII, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan,

The Famous Five are the best detectives,
They are forever very secretive.
Julian, Dick, George and Anne
You’ll always find them in demand.
These superb detectives are very young
But they give their rivals a tough time.

I am fond of a detective
Who is well-informed.
His quick wit and foresight
Is more than strong.
His best friend and companion
Is the wise Dr Watson.
The mere mention of his name
Make the criminals moan.
He is the one and only
Sherlock Holmes.

SHREYA BARDHAN,
Class VIII, Ballygunge Siksha Sadan,
Calcutta .

Arunjyoti Sanyal ,
Class IV, S.B.K. Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Jhargram

A sleuth like no other,
An assistant — his cousin brother
A box of Charminar and a Colt,
Along with his brainwave,
Make him a thunderbolt.
Journeys across India,
And sometimes abroad,
To solve cases and catch the fraud.
Topshe’s bravery and Jatayu’s wit,
Make Feluda’s mysteries my favourite.

SRIMANTA MUKHERJEE,
Class VIII, South Point High School,
Calcutta.

Sombuddha Bagchi,
Class IV, Techno India Group
Public School, Chinsurah

The detective created by
Arthur Conan Doyle,
The detective who can be
Termed royal.
He is intelligent and
Mentally strong.
His views and opinions can
Never be wrong.
To punish criminals
Is his only mission.
Sherlock is the best
By popular
admission.

Surjyatapa Bhattacharjee,
Class VIII, Holy Cross School,
Silchar, Assam.

Rohit Chakraborty,

It was the mystery of two missing teeth,
Of a famous doll,
That all worshipped like an idol.
The famous detective came,
With his dog in his arm.
All of us were smiling,
And hugged him warm.
We showed him the doll,
He looked carefully,
And turned her upside down.
Something fell from her pocket,
With the speed of a rocket.
It was the two missing teeth
That all were searching under and beneath.
His is a name we all know,
He is Tintin, the real hero.

Debasish Kalita,
Class VI, Maharishi Vidya Mandir Public School, Silpukhuri, Guwahati

SHAKTISHREE YAMBEM,
Class VI, Maria Montessori School,
Imphal, Manipur.

There are many detectives,
But Feluda is the best.
Feluda is intelligent and smart,
He always finishes what he starts.
He knows very well to handle the gun,
He will solve cases for anyone.
But what I want him to know is,
Feluda lage raho.

Here comes a man,
Who’s a private investigator.
A famous detective,
His name is Pradosh C. Mitter.
He’s created by Satyajit Ray,
A perfect read on a holiday.
Do you know who I’m talking about?
It’s Feluda, the superstar, no doubt.

To solve problems is a detective’s job,
They can even control a violent mob.
Whenever there is any sign of a case,
Hercule Poirot arrives with a frown on his face.
All of them rush to do
investigations,
As they try to maintain the peace of their nations.
