Lahore: A commission formed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to hear the appeals of fast bowlers Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif against their doping bans will meet on Tuesday, a PCB official said on Saturday.

“The members have informed us they are ready to hold their meeting on the 14th,” the official said. He hoped there would be a verdict within a week.

‘Hair was second best’

Darrell Hair was officially rated the world’s second-best umpire by the ICC before it sacked him. In its last annual personal appraisal, prepared by ICC’s umpiring bosses, Hair was ranked equal-second on the Elite Panel with outstanding Simon Taufel believed to be No. 1, a report in an Australian daily said.
