Nothing new, maybe, to Amitabh Bachchan who already has a number of mobile games to his name for films like Sholay, Ek Ajnabee, Deewaar, Sarkar, Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna this season. Right after SRKs Don, its Big Bs promotional games for Ravi Chopras Baabul. Amitabh Bachchan is mighty kicked about this game thing. The last time I played games with fervour was when I was a kid. Video games were in vogue then, he said at Gaming Hungama (for online games) and Mauj Entertainments (mobile games) launch for Baabul.
So, could the mobile/Internet games entice him? I have never been interested in playing games on the mobile but, yes, I have always encouraged new technology. We have to follow the trend and in this jet-age everything ought to be comfortable. The new technologies are a boon for learning and also saving our time. He added, I am not very tech-savvy by nature. I only know how to use my mobile for incoming calls and for reading the messages.
But ask him whats his incoming call tune, he evades the question jesting, I will not tell you that because you are trying to get my number. But those who have my number they like my callers tune.
There are two games, Baabul — The Garland and Baabul — Shaadi Ki Rasam. When asked about the Garland game and whether garlanding someone at this age would suit him Amitabh has a ready answers, I can only witness somebody garlanding. And I am sure this will not only lure the youth but also others.
Amitabh Bachchan is quite open to such promotions. Why not? Earlier promotional campaigns were limited. Now these additional campaigns are not only a boon but they also create an eagerness among the audiences to see the films.
The title track of Baabul sung by Big B is conspicuously absent from the album which contains the Jagjit Singh rendition. Ravi Chopra explains the omission. Amitji recorded the track just a day before the sound track of Baabul was launched. He was not in town.
On a more serious note Amitabh talks about the crux of Baabul. We can always try to make the position of a woman, especially a widow, sound and give her good treatment in the house. This is a social stigma on females through our culture. Thankfully times are changing now. So by showcasing such films the audiences may add a leaf or two to their thinking about widows and this could help the widows to live a peaceful and a better life.
