My first car

Sivamani,
percussionist

My first car was a Premier Padmini and it was roomy enough to allow me to load my drum sets and other equipment. That car was a neat little thing and I enjoyed the many long drives I took in it.

Well, to tell the truth, the Premier was actually the second vehicle that I bought. In my early years as a performer, I used to load all my instruments onto a rickshaw, which was owned by a guy named Ainarappan Balan. Now, Balan’s rickshaw had turned into a battered wreck over time and I told Balan that I’d buy him a new one. That was the first time I bought a vehicle on my own and still relish my memories of travelling in that rickshaw.

At present, I use a Mahindra Scorpio. I don’t have the time to take it on long drives, though I’d love to do so for it’s a robust machine. I use the Scorpio for commuting from my home and I am quite satisfied with it!
