My Fundays

I am the only child of my parents. Since I have no siblings, my parents showered all their love and affection only on me. In that respect I had a wonderful childhood. But I was stubborn as a child. All my demands had to be met by my parents. I was the real boss in the family and I thought that the whole world was a huge playground in which we were meant to play.

I still remember the time when I was only four years old and had very long hair. One day I took a pair of scissors and cut my hair short. My mom thought I had gone crazy. Fortunately, my hair grew back again and even today I sport long hair.

I was a good student and enjoyed my school days. I had good friends in school. I loved the lessons taught in class.

When I started my high school, me and my friend — who was a boy who used to sit beside me — would eat apples and throw the cores inside passing cars.

Although we would aim the apple cores at the windows, one fine day, we threw one big apple and it shattered the windscreen of a car. The owner of that car came to our school and lodged a complaint with the director of our school. We were called to the director’s office and were given a dressing down.

I still remember, my parents took me on a tour of Europe and France during summer when I was only ten years old. I also remember my trip to Cannes and Monte Carlo. It was like a dream. I liked the people, the food and the weather there.

I began to act in plays staged in various theatres as well as my school from the age of 10 and continued till I was 13. In the musicals and fairy tales staged in school I played a fairy. That was my first experience with acting. Acting for those three years at a stretch and at that age helped me hone my histrionic skills.

That was the time when I decided to be an actress. I have studied law and could have been a lawyer but I prefer being an actress.
