10-minute bank loot

Sheoraphuli, Dec. 6: A gang of six entered UBI’s Sheoraphuli branch 10 minutes before it was to open this morning and left with around Rs 7 lakh before the clock struck 10.

They were Hindi speaking and in their late 20s, said police. Gopal Mukherjee had just entered office when a man aimed a revolver at him and led him inside. “There, my colleagues were already huddled. The goons snatched the keys to the strong- room,” said Mukherjee.

Teacher held

Krishnagar: A schoolteacher allegedly killed his wife Sharmila Ghosh, 23, on Tuesday night and hanged her from the ceiling as he suspected her of infidelity. Arjun Ghosh was arrested along with his parents from their house in Habibpur, about 60 km from Calcutta. A police officer said the parents allegedly helped Arjun commit the murder.

Pillage probe

Calcutta: The Assembly privilege committee discussed on Wednesday the motion brought against 21 Trinamul MLAs who vandalised the House last week.

Dunlop tyres

Calcutta: Pawan Ruia said at Writers’ Buildings that Dunlop tyres would hit city showrooms mid-December. He met commerce and industries minister Nirupam Sen on Wednesday .
