PILs on strike
Two public interest litigations were filed at Calcutta High Court on Wednesday to challenge the legality of the December 14 industrial strike called by Citu and other trade unions. The petitioners pointed out that the Supreme Court had banned general strike and industrial strike. The cases are likely to come up for hearing on December 8.
College clash
Supporters of the SFI and the Presidency College Students Union (PCSU) clashed at the institution on Wednesday evening. PCSU members alleged that a group of SFI supporters of the college had attacked them when they returned to the campus after meeting Medha Patkar. Some SFI supporters alleged that PCSU members had attacked them without provocation.
Bodies found
The bodies of a man and a woman were found at two places in Howrah town, under Golabari police station, on Wednesday morning. The body of the man, aged around 50, was found beside GT Road, while that of the woman, in her 40s, was found near a hotel. Police said the bodies did not bear injury marks.
Woman dead
The decomposed body of a woman, in her 30s, was found in a drain beside Hatiara Road, in Baguiati, on Wednesday morning.
