The Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC), Delhi, was set up in 2003 and caters to the growing demands of students interested in pursuing a career in print journalism, advertising, public relations, event management and also acquiring necessary skills in television news, videography, video editing programmes, etc. The AIMC is affiliated to the Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. It is recognised by the University Grant Commission (UGC) and accredited as a five-star university.
The institute offers an MA in mass communication, a PG diploma in television and video production and a PG diploma in communication with specialisation in advertising, public relations or event management.
The institute has an active placement cell that organises workshops, interviews and group discussions to enable students to compete successfully in the job market. Eligibility
You should have a bachelor degree or an equivalent
from a recognised Indian or foreign university. Preference
will be given to those with an aptitude for copy writing,
advertising and public relations.
Entrance exam
The applications are carefully screened for superior
academic performance, creative aptitude, interests and extra
curricular accomplishments of the candidates. On-the-spot
admission is conducted for interested candidates in April.
However, there is direct admission for those who have scored
60 per cent or above in their graduation or in the first
two years of graduation.
Pattern of exam
The test is of one-and-a-half hours’ duration, consisting
of objective-type and some subjective-type questions on
current affairs, general knowledge and a few questions related
to media.
After evaluation of their previous academic record, performance in the admission test, the admission committee prepares a list of selected candidates. Preference will be given to those who display the required aptitude in subjects of the course applied for.
How to prepare
To update your general knowledge,
read newspapers regularly and go through magazines like
CSR and Competition Master, etc, as well as
the CSR Year Book or General Knowledge by
Tata McGraw Hill. Also keep a look out for media related
information. You could go through newsmagazines like Outlook,
Frontline, India Today, etc, regularly and
maintain brief notes on all important national and international
issues and developments.
